Ever wondered how to increase website SEO?

It’s simple…Answer the questions people are asking.

Sometimes marketing is as simple as learning what people need to know, and answering that question.

For local businesses, it’s so easy to get hung up on the jargon of marketing. There are so many terms and, if you aren’t a marketer, they sound like a different language. SEO, Pixels, Meta, Geotargeting, etc.

So, how can you break it down to the most simple terms? I work with a bunch of contractors and home service businesses. Most of these business owners are great at building, fixing, and doing the work they do, but when we start talking about marketing, they get flustered.

I’m going to tell you how to break down local business marketing to its simplest level. If you do this, your marketing will work way better.

ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT PEOPLE ARE ALREADY ASKING!

That’s it. The secret sauce. If you are a concrete contractor, answer these 2 simple questions. WHO do you serve? WHY would they care?

This is important to understand because if you don’t know, you will waste a ton of time and money.

Concrete contractors can do so many different variations. Freeway construction, Commercial foundations, Driveways, pickleball courts, etc. They might work for general contractors or they might serve cities who need concrete at their parks, or they might also serve homeowners. WHO are you talking to?

WHY is next. Why would they pick you? Are you better, faster, cheaper or what? It isn’t “customer service,” “been in business since 1989” or “we care.” For better results use specific language that attracts your best clients. For example;

  • “We specialize in stamped concrete for luxury homes.”

  • “We respond within 24 hours and always finish on time.”

  • “We help homeowners understand the whole process so they feel confident in their project.”

As long as people are looking for your service, all you have to do is answer their questions. Once you know those two things, (WHO and WHY) start answering the questions people are asking.

If I want to put in a new driveway, I am going to ask certain questions.

A driveway contractor, understanding this, could start answering simple questions like, “How thick should a concrete driveway be?” and “How much does a concrete driveway cost in Utah?” in short blog posts and Facebook videos. Within three months, you will see big increases in inquiries.

So, how do you do SEO? Simply answer the questions people are asking.

What if you aren’t sure what questions your target customers are asking? How do you know? Here are two simple ways to find out: Answerthepublic.com and Google Search/People Also Ask.

I searched Driveway Paving and below is a preview of what it asks for. You could try all sorts of searches and find out what terms people are searching for.

Using Google Search/ People Also Ask

Have you ever done a search for something on Google and noticed a section called “People Also Ask…”? Well, these are questions that enough people have asked Google that they are displaying them because you might have a similar question. Here is a screenshot of what pops up when I Google the same thing I asked Answer The Public: Driveway Paving.

You could write a blog post, or make a YouTube Short, an Instagram Reel, or a Facebook Video and post it with one of  the questions listed as the title and you will likely get picked up by search engines. Why does it seem so simple? Because it actually is. Just answer the questions people are asking and Google will show your site more. Try it and let me know how it works for you. I did it for this article.

So if you are asking; How do I improve SEO for my website? Start with these simple tools. Answer the questions people are asking Google and more people will find you. It’s that simple.
